Paul Langford has been a coach in BC since 1975 when he first started coaching at Gladstone Secondary. In 1984, he moved to Mission to coach the senior girls at Mission Senior Secondary with his brother, Bruce Langford. In 1992, Paul moved back to Port Coquitlam where he started a club, Jabog Basketball, to provide a place for his daughters to play. Since then countless girls have gone through the Jabogs program on their way to success in basketball and life. Paul has also coached numerious club and provincial teams over the years, including U13, U14, U15 and U17 girls teams. In 2009, Paul coached the U17 BC Provincial team to a Silver Medal at the Canada Summer Games.
Now entering his 17th season as a girl’s basketball coach at Riverside, Paul has led the Riverside Sr. Girls to the BC provincials championships in each of the past 8 seasons – finishing in the Final Four in 5 of the past 7 seasons. Overall, Paul boasts a remarkable 455-136 record at Riverside. Under Paul Langford’s expert coaching hand, Riverside has become one of the top basketball programs in the province.
Graduates of the Riverside Basketball program have gone on to exceptional success at the collegiate level. Riverside is one of only two B.C. girls basketball programs to have sent 25 athletes on to play basketball at the college/university level during Paul’s time at the school, with 6 of those going on to play at the NCAA level. Riverside graduates have won national championships, Canadian College Player of the Year awards, and NCAA All-American awards.
